For those customers that might not know, shipping containers come in a small variety of sizes and quality levels. If you want to spend the money, it honestly can be customized to your exact needs. It depends on your budget.
By far the most common sized containers on the market are 20-foot and 40-foot. This is the length measurement and the most common width is 8-foot. Standard height is about 8-foot tall. These are what's used in the global shipping economy which is why they're more readily available and usually more affordable. With the abundance of global shipping, it's often most cost effective to make your project work with one of these more common sizes.
Here at Oklahoma Containers, we know some customers need the high standard, brand new storage containers for their project. We can absolutely get those for you. It will be more expensive, but you clearly know that already. For most customers though, a slightly used shipping container will solve your needs for a watertight entity at a more reasonable price point. That is truly our sweet spot here in our company. We specialize in finding bargain priced used containers to sell to customers throughout Oklahoma.
In all honesty, there isn't a standard rating system across America that determines the quality of shipping containers. However, there are some common practices across the industry and acceptable metrics that most companies leverage in advertising and for warranty purposes. Here's how we communicate them with our customers:
What is considered a "new shipping container" is as close as you can get to it being made here in the USA. However, more than 90% of all containers in the world are made overseas and arrive here in the states by large cargo ships carrying dozens (or hundreds) of them. So buying a brand new shipping container in Oklahoma simply means it will have the fewest possible miles on it from when it's built to your property.
The good news is if you purchase it new, it will only have one shipment across the ocean and thus likely have no visible damage. Obviously, it's completely water tight and ready for your usage. In some instances, we can even let you choose your color if you select it at purchase (but that's not always the case so ask first).
If you want the next highest quality container with out the "new" price tag, you'll want a high grade cargo-worthy container. These containers have had some trips across the ocean, but still maintain the level of international shipping standards created by the shipping industries. These are solid containers that are completely water tight and still look very good. It's similar to buying a used car that's only got 25,000 miles on it.
The "B Grade" type of containers are next on the list for quality. They have made plenty of trips across the ocean and it shows. They have highly noticeable damage and often come with rust on corners. They are still water tight upon delivery, but may experience some issues soon after without some DIY repairs. These containers are no longer certifiable to handle shipments across the ocean. We offer a very limited warranty on these types of containers simply because they are well used.
The "C Grade" containers are ones we do not typically recommend to our customers. These containers do not come with any warranty from our company and it's because they have the most damage and often are not watertight. If you are a handy DIY person and want to repair these containers to make them watertight, we can find some for you. These will be the absolute cheapest on the market, but hopefully you understand why. They likely have holes and rust in several areas or maybe a door that doesn't properly seal keep water and rodents out.

Let's talk about some common questions we get about our storage containers for sale in Oklahoma. These are good things to know and might help you in your search.
There's no real difference between these. They are simply different names used across America to describe the containers. It's still a metal box with defined dimensions used in shipping materials on cargo containers across the country.
Yes, we sell watertight shipping containers as a standard to all our customers. Rarely, an issue can happen where a defect slips through our inspection which is why we carry a warranty. We never sell lesser quality (non water-tight) containers unless specifically requested by the buyer.
Most shipping containers can last up to 25 years of use. Many factors can change this number, but that's common in the shipping industry. Now for most of our customers that are using them for general storage, they can last much longer. Commonly, it's the rust from the ocean that deteriorates containers faster. So if it's well-maintained, it can last decades.
We accept all major credit cards as the most popular payment method. We also accept electronic checks and we even offer a slight discount to all customers who choose to pay this way. Contact us to learn more. We do not accept cash on delivery or layaway type programs.
For used shipping containers, no we cannot guarantee a color option. We source from local docks and it's whatever colors they have on hand at the time. Shipping containers are easy to paint though! For new containers, we can specific either tan or grey at this time only.
For a standard 20-foot container, you need at least 75-feet of length clearance plus 12-feet of width clearance plus 20-feet of height clearance to safely deliver your container. This is because the trailer needs space to back up, and it tips the back end up to drop off the container on the ground.
For a standard 40-foot container, just add 25-feet of length clearance.
For the high cube containers, just add 3-feet of height clearance.
We highly recommend that if you need containers on a specific date, that you call at least 3 weeks in advance. With all the details on shipping, it's hard to guarantee dates before then.
For used containers - standard delivery is usually 1-2 weeks and rush delivery can be as short as 3 business days.
For new containers - delivery is variable but often between 2-4 weeks.
